Alanna: The First Adventure
By Tamora Pierce

It is probably one of my most favorite books of hers. It has everything: the secret that could determine when your life ends, the struggle that everyone goes through, and the wonderful ending. It is set in medieval times where girls aren't allowed to be knights. Alanna of Trebond disguises herself as a boy named Alan and starts training to be a knight. She passes many tests in which her identity might be found out and also learns many new things. I love this book because it is adventurous, humorous, and interesting to read. Thank you for reading aobut my thoughts on this wonderful book.

Howliday Inn
By James Howe

I like this story because it's about two animals: Chester is a cat and Harold is a dog. The owners of these animals were going on a trip to a big city so they left them at a kennel in Chateau Bow-Wow. Here Chester and Harold meet Louise, a French poodle in a love triangle with Monsieur Max and Georgette, and Crazy Lyle, who's a cat who swears he's a secret agent, along with a pair of dachshunds who howl at the moon. Soon after they meet, Louise disappears. This is no longer Chateau Bow-Wow. Welcome to Howliday Inn.

Mr. Revere and I
by Robert Lawson

Mr. Revere and I is an interesting and detailed account of Paul Revere's famous ride and the events around it, told by someone who was there&endash;his horse! Because this book was written from the perspective of a horse, it gave me a new view of what happened during those days of suspense that led to the Revolutionary War. This is a captivating, exciting, and very entertaining book.

The Ramsay Scallop
by Francis Temple

This book tells the story of Elenor, a girl betrothed to a young knight who has recently returned from the Crusades. Together they make a pilgrimage to help keep the plague away from their village. They have many adventures and face many dangers, including an attack by a wild animal. This book is full of details about the Middle Ages and is filled with interesting characters and events. I recommend it to everyone.

James Herriot's Treasury for Children
by James Herriot

This book is a collection of stories about a variety of animals that a rural veterinarian encounters. He takes care of a stray dog which was hit by a car, a kitten which was found next to a pond in freezing weather, a horse with a limp caused by a nail in its hoof and many other animals. I like this book because it has great illustrations and neat stories.
