This study was designed to be used as a novel study (independent, small group, or class) or as an additional component to a
thematic unit based on mystery and suspense. As all groups of students are unique, you are invited to use this guide in whatever
manner suits the needs of your learners.
The activities contained in this Study Guide are conveniently organized into four sections: Before Reading, Reading, After
Reading, and To Use Anytime. Because of the nature of Sigmund Brouwer's writing, the mystery Madness at Moonshiner's Bay reads
quite quickly. As a result, only one activity has been provided for each chapter. A greater study emphasis is encouraged before
and after reading the novel. To support the need to assess student progress, generic evaluation sheets are also included at the
end of this collection.
This novel is the ninth in a series. Your students are invited to read any of the other novels in the Accidental Detectives
series before, during, or after this unit of study. In addition to encouraging the enjoyment of reading, your students are
encouraged to connect with Mr. Brouwer at his website.
An additonal exciting component-the "interactive" portion-gives the teacher access-codes that may be passed on to the students
after every six chapters or so of the book. Students may then go access exciting additonal activities and information on the
internet as part of their novel study!
Enjoy solving this mystery along with the Accidental Detectives.
